Children are not a burden to escape or endure; they are a blessing that drives us to Christ because we are incapable of parenting well without Him. - Kim Brenneman

a question for you....

If you had 500 dollars to give away to any organization or person right now, who would you give it to and why?

Or I would support any organization listed in the back of the book ' Half the sky'. Best Poverty book in the world...I am not exaggerating. These two journalists travelled everywhere seeing what organizations work and which ones don't along with personal stories of women everywhere. Did you know crimes against women right now exceed the amount from all the wars and slavery?!
Anyway, I would trust some of their lists as it compiles years of research- you would be surprised at the organizations that are corrupted or just don't work that well. ( World vision is one although they have done some good things. Compassion rates better.)

Or I would support Reece's Rainbow and help a child who would otherwise be sent to an institution and be chained to a bed - find their forever family.

Research whatever you end up doing as some things are not beneficial. ( Seriously you would love the book ' Half the sky" Although it will make you cry but it will also give you hope.

I would strongly consider giving it to International Aid Services, a Christian agency in Africa that Keith and I worked with, for the purpose of planting Bibles and excellent Christian literature within the high schools and few teacher training colleges of southern Sudan. As southern Sudan looks to become an independent nation, the few available books read by the few literate young people... who will inevitably become the leaders of that country... will make a tremendous impact on the future of that people and nation.

Because we worked with IAS personally, I am convinced of the integrity of the organization, and I know that they would properly distribute that literature in the right places. We have sent Bibles and books a few times to our contacts within southern Sudan, and lately I am really wanting to send more... so that's why it's on my heart today.

Caring Pregnancy Center.

They've always been close to my heart and I have always, always wanted to volunteer there, but it has not, so far, been the season in my life where God has released me to do that, but I cherish the thought that one day He will tell me it is time to help out there, with my girls following me.

They could so use the money, as they operate solely on donations from us. They need and deserve the money.

That's my two cents worth!

My book came today and I have already read most of it. Compelling. It is nice to hear a positive story of World Vision and it's leaders. I knew someone who worked higher up and experienced some negatives but it is always good to hear the opposing side.

Thanks for the book. It would be wonderful if every church would read it and preach sermons on it- since he does a good job at speaking christianese and evangelical. I love what the books concepts are!
Thank you so much! I have already read parts to my hubby. You would seriously Love Half the sky or Reaching Children in Need.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know I received it and I will pass it on to others too:)
