Children are not a burden to escape or endure; they are a blessing that drives us to Christ because we are incapable of parenting well without Him. - Kim Brenneman

A Giveaway in honor of...

Our first date was valentines day.
He borrowed a truck to drive us down to Calgary.
It was a Friday night.
everything was closed and nothing went as planned.
We sang the "fresh prince of bel air" theme song on the c-train with drunk strangers.
I had coffee, he had juice at Tim Horton's.
A man came up to us at the train station.
his name was Scotty.
It was a COLD night and he was not dressed properly... he was homeless, staying in the shelter. We talked a while, shared a little life and then shared some money for warm food, not sure if he used it for food, but i like to believe that he did treat his friend to subway.
I noticed his hands where cold.
Mine where so warm.
My mittens where thick and perfect for cold nights.. they did have hearts on them, but i thought i would offer.
He accepted graciously...
We drove back to the small prairie town with conversation full of hope for the future and hearts glowing with new love.
In honor of that first date and the beginning of a life of giving together i am doing a giveaway!
So here is the down low...
It will be a special made package from me... specific to who wins. :)
So this is how you enter...

Comment on this blog post about either

1. Your first date with your spouse (good bad ugly... just want to hear about it)
or
2. A time where things didn't go as planned but still turned out memorable.

contest will close on Friday the 17 12am.. so you have until then to comment!
:)

I love this giveaway! and I love your first date story!

we were both so broke when we started seeing each other, I don't think we had an actual 'date' besides movie nights at his place with his roomates. Unless you count lunch at subway! Not very romantic or fancy, but we didn't really need all that back then!

Just wanted to say that Philip remembers when your hubby borrowed a truck and put a couch in the back for a date- was that that time?

You just brought back horrible memories- ha ha. I asked my hubby what our first date was and then I groaned...He asked me out for a romantic date and then 5 minutes before he remembered he had Bible Study...A Bible study full of women who had a crush on him and who already hated me. I got the glares and curious stares all night...and then another guy walked me home cuz Philip was busy...but I got his sweater...which I then dosed with perfume before I gave it back so that he would have no choice but to think of me:) Corny- but he did not wash it until the scent was all gone:)

Sadie-
Most of our dates were just having out in the upper room or going on walks... but he wanted our first date to be special! He then learned that he didn't have to do extravegent things for me... but he still would try every once in a while!

Kmarie- That was a different time but i remember that! :)
Your story about you and Phillips first date made me smile! Back when Matt and I were dating and I went to Oregon to visit ALL the girls from his church sat me down to basically interigate me, because they were all in love with him and they had to make sure i matched up to thier standards... he made a lot of girls cry when we started dating!

Your giveaway's are great! I know that you just sent me a package, but I still thought I would share as Dan just reminded me of our first date. He had some work for the college up in Edmonton and I went with him to "keep him company". We went skating at the parliment buildings there on a out door rink. While skating, he said, "so is this a date?" I said, "I don't know, depends if you want it to be.", He, "I'd like that.", Me, "well, I guess it's a date then." :)
Funny and kind of cute I think.
